Replaced the Distributor cap and rotor and nothing has changed. It tries to turn over but it wont. It makes a clicking sound after trying to start it. The truck was hooked to jumper cables. Did I mess up on replacing the distributor and rotor?
ok after reading all this, not to say anyone is wrong.... but, the clicking you hear is the starter seloniod which is ran off battery power, so your battery is good. im sure you know how to test for spark at your plugs, but to me it sounds like a fuel problem. try to bang on the bottom of the tank and see if you can get the thing to start, if you can then its gonna be your fuel pump. or you can goto autozone and borrow a fuel pressure tester and hook it up to your fuel rail and turn the truck over and see what it reads.
Just dropping by to give an update. The fuel pump was the culprit and discovered #8 cylinders was misfiring due to a bad injector. I got a new battery also since it was in there since 2006.
i have a 1995 dodge ram 1500 5.9 and it stalled last night and wont start. if i let it sit for a few minutes and try to start it, it will run rough for about 5 seconds then stall again.i checked the fuel rail and i get plenty of fuel,i dont know what it could be??? any suggestions? Thanks ! Steve.
