Default Kc hilites question, 55w,100w, 135w

Ive been in the market for off road lights for a little while now and I've decided to go with the most expensive-cheap ones. I like the driving lights because I plan on putting them behind my grill and Im not going to buy a couple sets just one. I want to know if anyone has had any bad experiences with mounting behind the grill and how much watts they were using. I want the 135w but they might lessen the life of my battery and alternator since I have a 1000w amp and 2 10" kickers and want to get an e-fan (probably not a good idea). Price isn't a concern since they are all about the same price. I'm leaning on the 100w but I would feel dumb not going all the way if the 100w weren't that bright. I'll probably use them less than once a week and only for short periods of time (no more than 10-15 mins). Sorry for the essay I'm just really confused on what to do and someone has to have gone down my same road. I wanted the Hellas but I like the 23 year warranty and heard the kc's put off better light, idk if that's them justifying spending almost twice as much though. Thanks a lot!! I'm open to any suggestions

I dunno, I've had an awful lot of off-road lights thru the years and have installed or helped install a couple dozen others and I find in a 55w light, the Hellas outshine the 55w KCs hands down, at a lot less $ too. The lights on the lightbar I made for my Jeep are Hella 500s.

That said, I have a set of 130 watt KC daylighters on my truck and another set that's on my Jeep when the winch cradle is on and they are BRIGHT! But generate a LOT of heat, too much for a behind the grill installation IMO...

That's what I was worried about, did you mount lights to your truck? If so how and where? I can only think of inside the grille and on the bumper but im afraid of breaking them if they're on the bumper.

I can't help it, it has a spray paint paint job and 50% of the dents were there when I bought it. It's definitely a beater truck. Is it a bad idea to mount lights directly to the roof rack? And does anyone have a roll bar? If so how much did you pay. The local speed and truck world wants 200 for a roll bar.

Look for a roll bar used.

If you think you are going to regularly bust lights, just buy the el-cheapo-deluxe versions from wally world. If you smash 'em, ya ain't out much.

Roof rack?

I found a used roll bar for 125 for a chevy s10, isn't that a small truck like a dakota? If not do you think it'll fit? And how much are roof racks?

Nope, won't fit. Too narrow, too short. You lights would probably be shining into the cab....

You can get light bars for under a hundred bucks.
