major power loss
ok so i have a 96 ram 1500 with a 5.2, we got the truck to use as a shop truck but it has no power at all. it idles fine and i have replaced the IAC the MAP sensor and TPS but yet when i mash on teh gas in idle it will stop about 2000-2300 rpms and will not go any higher. can anybody help with this interesting situation that i have encountered. fule problem maybe?
Means plenum is blown, and cat may be plugged. Check plenum with a magnet. I would bet it has the original steel plate (and blown gasket). I just received new aluminum plenum plate today ($49.99 on eBay). Best price I could find.
Fix the plenum, replace the Cat and get a new front o2 sensor and you should be good to go....

ok so intake plenum is off and gasket was sure enough blown. was on a budget so couldnt get a new plate but i think i may put a small bead of rtv just to be safe. total tear down was under an hour cause it helps being small and being able to fit in the engine bay lol. will let yall know the results when i get everything put back together, just waiting for parts to come in now.
If your going to do it without buying a new plate. Use a Felpro gasket and cut those **** off the end of the bolts(they are too long). And make sure the thread holes are clean all the way to the bottom. Use loctite on them, and torque them more than once. I hope you have a manual for the torque procedure.
