I recently purchased some new seat covers for my 99 Dodge Ram 1500 ext cab 4 x 4. The cover for the center console requires me to remove the flip down center console to install it. I found there are two screws, one on each side, that holds the console in. After removing the screws, I was not able to remove the console. The passenger side of the console would come out but the driver side wouldn't move off the mount. Does anyone know how to remove this? Thanks for your help.

 

I think there is some variety of locking mechanism in there. Grab the 01 service manual from the faq section, there should at least be some hints in there.

 

You need to remove the whole center seat.

 

+1 zman. Underneath there are 4 bolts. Take those out pull the whole center section out. I had to do this to get my subwoofer into the center console. Yes into the console.

Once I take out the whole center seat will I be able to separate the folding console from the seat?

 

Yep, there will be 4 more bolts holding the pivot arms to the seat.
