sealing blue fel pro gaskets...

as zman said, rumor is that the plenum bolts can be too long. test fit each into the hole, grind off any excess length so the bolt head will bottom out to the plenum w/o pan and gasket. but - make sure that provides at least 3-4 rounds of thread contact with pan and gasket. use blue thread locker and torque to spec. its a very LIGHT spec, something like 72 INCH pounds not foot pounds which is only 8 FOOT pounds.

I'm doing all kinds of research for you, and would like that info. I as far as I can tell, that gasket set you have is old. There is a new part # with better gaskets.

its a 96 360... vwanddodge asked me to edit some things the other day and every time i try i get an error message and it brings me to the first page of the dodge forum?
i got the gasket set from oreilly's and it was the number on their website. it didnt give me any options for other sets so i just got it.

The # for the set is right. But IIRC , depending on how long it was sitting on the shelf, I think the newer sets have upgraded gaskets in them. I could be wrong.
EDIT
OK, is there a part # on the head gasket itself? What is it? (you can upgrade the head gaskets that come in the kit, by getting them separate) Not that ,that matters. But, just to clear up all the "which way does the gasket get installed" questions.(no matter whats it for) I just got off the phone with Federal-Mogal. As far as the head gaskets go, the coating you see on one side is a production thing, and nothing more(both sides are coated with teflon). As far as any other gaskets go, whether they be intake, exhaust or any others, unless it says on it "this side up", it does NOT matter which side you put it on.
