Default Ruptured fuel line

my high pressure fuel line ruptured about a week ago. obviously, i need to replace the whole line.

my questions are:

is it a specific line that i need? what size line? should i replace the fittings? any special tools i need?

and would it be easier to drop the tank, or remove the bed?

thanks in advance fellas!

Get a complete line from the dealer. There are 2 halves. The front half has the rubber end fixed to the steel.

Only special tool you need is the disconnect tool. You can get 'em at the parts store. I believe it is 3/8ths for the fuel line.

I still can't figure that one out. I pinch both ends between my fingers and push it out. Thus, I once again prove that I kick-***.

i agree with v dub!

where did it rupture? the half that extends from the pump to the underneath the firewall is about $100, and needless to say a dealer-only item

$100 ? I replaced both halves on my 98 due to the nightmare I went through with the junk Carter fuel pumps. It wasn't even 50 bucks for both. Of course I guess it doesn't really matter, dealer only.

I'm replacing mine tomorrow. I'll be making my own though. I have a hydraulic flare tool that can make the disconnect fitting going to the flexible steel line. The pump end may end up just getting a fuel hose and some clamps. I'm doing the pump assembly as well on my v10. Stupid fuel filter design.

so let me get this right....

the fuel line is a 2 piece, and since it ruptured right at the fitting above my tank, i only need to back half?

my fuel pump is on top of my tank right? thats where the fitting is?

does anyone have a picture of this?

sorry, i havnt dealt with this before and the dealer said the part is non returnable so i want to be right
