lucas oil treatment
I used Lucas in my old truck, '77 GMC K1500. had a rod knock...BAD. After dumping it in, it shut right up. Thats the only time I've used it, but my 1 experience was good. On anything newer I'd be hesitant though.
I use Lucas with 10W-30 Amsoil Synthetic with no problems whatsoever. Have used it in every vehicle I own. I choose to run it because I run my Amsoil for 10,000 miles between changes. Never had a problem with it. My truck doesn't burn oil. Everything runs perfectly
try 5w40 or 10w40 rather than 15w40. With winter coming up, I wouldn't add the extra cold start thickness. Weather Channel had a freeze warning this morning, and were looking at some light snow on my end of PA tomorrow
It was a simple question u don't have to be an a** I have a 5.9 with 200,000 on it with original plenum and 10w30 does fine so I was curious
As an aside, it got down to freezing last night and my truck fired up with no bad noises. I guess the Lucas got mixed in enough to not starve the top end of oil when cold. Still risky though.
I apologize I wasn't trying to be I used to use 20w50 in my 89 Nissan pickup due to a leak I couldn't afford to fix. I didn't no if u did it for a reason or just cause u thought it was better for it
I tried the Lucas stuff in an Escort I had with a worn out 2.2L, it made the car very hard to start, and felt really sluggish. Personally, I wouldn't use it again, but I've heard of quite a few stories where it made a positive difference.
Kadetklapp, that brush guard looks awesome, is that a GoIndustries one? I have one made by them, a different style, that I'm putting on after I get my new headlights on.

I have a similar experience going on with Lucas in my truck. I put five quarts of 15w40 Rotella in my truck with a half quart of Lucas. The truck is horrifyingly loud at start-up. Sounds like a three-piece brass band is playing under the hood. However, at hot idle in gear it's got slightly better oil pressure. I added the lucas due to my engine burning some oil.
If you are using lucas, use the recommended oil.
