quick question on the intake manifold bolts

Default quick question on the intake manifold bolts

hey guys. im doing my plenum, water pump, and timing set. well i got the w/p off, and all the brackets. all the bolts out of the manifold, and the very last one snapped. FVCK!!!!!!!!!!!! its the very back bolt on the left(passenger) side. will this effect anything if i leave it broke off in the head, or should i attempt to get it out?

Oh no...get er out. That's one of them that gets coolant on the threads if i remember right

Yeah, you wanna get the bolt out...... drown it with chems, grab it with vice grips, and tap lightly on top while trying to turn it in either direction. (the hole goes out into open air, so, it should move either way.....)

well the problem is it snapped clean off. part of the bolt is still in the manifold. i dont have an angled drill so im kinda screwed....

snapped flush on the head mating surface? Oh, that's gonna be fun.......

Rumor has it, some folks have gotten away with not reinstalling that one.... (for just this reason.....) You can try it, but, I can't promise anything. Alternatives are: pull the head...... or, buy a new tool...... I know which one I would rather do.

i dont have the cash to buy new tools. i may just pull the head and take it to the local machine shop and have them fix it. but i dont want to pull the head because im afraid of what i might find....

Question becomes, which is cheaper? Head gasket and machine work? Or, a drill that will get in there.

Do you have a die grinder or dremal tool that will hold a drill bit? or you could do the buy the tool and return it thing, not the right way but gotta do what you need to.

gonna cost me about 35-40 bucks at the machine shop plus about 15 for the head gasket. gonna just go that route. not comfortable drilling it out myself.
