Default Couple Exhaust Questions

I just had a few exhaust questions as I am very unfamiliar with the system.

I am from Wyoming, no emissions testing, just got my plenum fixed and now want to deal with the cat problem.

First, how would one go about removing it? I'm not overly experienced with this stuff, I just want it gone, and I saw the DIY for the no fouler trick for the second oxygen sensor and figured that would be an easy fix and reasonably cheap (Kinda on a budget)

Second, Is the factory muffler really 30+ inches long? Even without the tips on either end or is mine some kind of aftermarket?

Last, what are the advantages to welding over clamps? I noticed mine was half welded then clamped around the muffler and out the back, which would you recommend? Magnaflow is what we have here in town, is that a good setup (no cat, Magnaflow muffler?)

Yes, the factory muffler is really that long.
I can't confirm how long it is, since I don't feel like going outside and crawling under the truck.
Mine is clamped in, which is factory, however, you may have an aftermarket replacement OE style muffler, which someone may have welded in.
That would be my guess.

What about removing the cat? is it just as simple as cutting it out and putting a pipe in? and how would I do the cutting? I'm not a welder or anything, but I have a hacksaw lol. Sorry for my ignorance in advance. Thanks again guys!

Yep, yours should just have a single pipe going in, and a single pipe coming out. Slice it out of there with a sawzall, or hacksaw.... (LOTS of exercise there...) and replace it with a piece of pipe the correct diameter. leave the front and rear O2 sensors though, or, have bungs welded on for them.

I'd use a cutoff wheel if you can. Much quicker and easier.

Magnaflow does sound pretty good. I think SpinTech makes a good sounding unit as well.

Whereabouts in Wyoming? Think you're the first I've seen on here

Haha I wouldn't doubt I'm the first Wyomingite you've come across, I haven't come across another either. I'm just a hundred miles west of Casper, if you know where that is haha.
