Do you think this is a good deal for an automatic to manual conversion?

Sorry I copied and pasted that on accident I like the second option as well. 300 is cheap as long as it doesn't die as well. Anyway to check if it's any good? Without being able to drive with it?

If you are talking about the tranny, there is no way that I know of to test it. As far as the transfer goes, you can sort of check that. The output shaft when in 4wd should move/rotate back and forth, no more than an 1/8 of a turn. But, the TC is not the issue. I'd use the 231 you have now, because of the driveshaft issues as stated earlier.

Another thing that would help, would be to stay off the "gay" **** websites while your here on DF. LOL

So would you go for it if you were in my position? Should I just offer 200 and slap it on my truck and hope for the best. He said he bought it specifically for the axles and only drove it home. I might have a good deal on my hands or Two broken tranys. What's a rough estimate of rebuilding an automatic? Around 1000? And how much is it to make a working transmission better on average? Around 400?
Awe but I love watching gay **** and talking about trucks lol

If you do it yourself, you can do it for under a grand. That includes upgrading some hard parts. If you pay someone else to do it, 1500-? depending on how weird ya get.

I'm taking it to a transmission shop so I'm not chasing my tail and they can tell me what's wrong. I guess these trannys do go quick under hard use

When I saw this thread, I thought that it was a deal that someone quoted to DO an auto to manual conversion.

There is a lot involved with a manual conversion. not just getting a junkyard tranny. You need a clutch pedal, pedal bracket, slave cylinder and everything else mentioned.

if you want manual, buy a truck that came with one.

I wish that's how much it would cost for someone else to do it. I would love to convert it to a manual but it's expensive and labor intensive so I guess I'll just swap out auto transmission for another used one. Hopefully I can get another year or so out of it.
