Do you think this is a good deal for an automatic to manual conversion?
Well my transmission is slipping bad. I found this on craigslist and was wondering if this will work well for my truck. I have an 01 1500 ext cab 4x4 360. 700 dollars isn't that bad compared to an automatic rebuild. I like stick so I think I'd prefer a manual but the truck isn't in the best condition. Do you think it's worth it to put this in instead of rebuilding? I don't mind putting a lot of time in it because I make 7.50 an hour, and prefer cheapness to labor hours. I want something strong I'll never have to worry about again. Thanks in advance, I'm just really confused on what to do and I don't have 1500+ to spend on it.
Trans looks like it was 2wd. Would require some conversion to make it work. (tailshaft, and output shaft.) Also would need a flywheel. You would probably end up spending almost as much as rebuilding the auto....
Damn, I kinda want a manual though, more than an automatic. I drove a 1977 vw van for a while and miss driving stick. Has anyone found any kits online? I've read tons of threads on this and I'm in the air.
best bet would be try and find a whole truck in the scrapyard, or for sale, with a blown motor/trashed body, whathaveyou. That way, you are sure to have all the little detail parts you are gonna need. That, and being the one to take it apart, so you know how it goes back together again....... makes a difference.
Second plan, some guy on Craigslist has a 2500 5.9 with an auto trans. He's selling it and the transfer case for 399. He's not sire what transmission it is. He said it has 150,000 miles on it but was told it was rebuilt when he bought it, said it shifts great though. Do you think this is a better idea? Much cheaper at least

It's a 46RE, same as your's. And IMHO the second one is a better option. Only difference would be the driveshafts. As the transfer case from the 2500 is a 241 TC. But if your TC is fine, it will bolt right up with no probs.
