Default New transmission, anything else I need?

Hey I was wondering I'm about to put a used tranny with 92,000 miles on the tranny in my 2001 off road edition. Recently the tranny has been slow responsive getting on the highway and stutters while while driving I changed my tps and all my o2 sensors and did a tranny flush and new filter....helped for a little while than did it again so I've decided to put a different tranny and new torque converter in it and I just wanna know if I should change anything before i put the other tranny in it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What year is the used tranny out of? You can ONLY use one from a 2000 or 2001. Or, you'll have to change some sensors. And btw, have you read this thread? https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...um-thread.html

quadrunner, I moved you to your own thread since this problem is mostly unrelated to the old thread you dug up.

Welcome to DF!

Is it hard to change those sensors? How much did you pay for the used tranny? My tranny is pretty much dead so I'm in the same boat.

flush your cooler and lines.
be aware that the frame closes in when the cross member is removed.
remove your crank position sensor to protect it from being smashed during R&R.
inspect your freeze plugs on the rear of the block while trans is removed and consider replacing them. o'reilleys has a kit, steel or brass.

read every post by MonteC.
if your having shifting issues only consider his advice on governor pressure and sensor replacement before doing a swap.

welcome to df.

Do a search, and look in the FAQ/DIY section. And stop jacking peoples threads. LOL

My bad I didn't mean to steal another persons thread but my question might have to do with his. I know I need to stop doing that, it's just hard when you got the same problem with pretty much the same circumstances. But I agree it makes it really confusing.

What do those sensors run? I'm looking at a used tranny for 950 with 92,000 on it. About 2 years ago i had a bunch of sensors replaced by a dodge mechanic and it never fixed the problem I'd have to dig up the receipts for it to know exactly what was done. But now it's gettin worse hard shifting, no power getting on the highway and *******ly no throttle response. If your as much of a truck guy as iam you feel my pain!

A used trans for almost a grand? I would be REAL tempted to spend a bit more, have yours rebuilt, and have a basically NEW trans......
