well i was taking off the pass side manifold because there was an exaust leak and when i went to take the hot air tube off both of the bolts broke does it have to be hooked up for the engine to run right or can i just weld the hole up on the manifold and everything be ok?

That's for the EGR. If it isn't hooked up, you may set a code. If you have emissions testing, you are gonna have to fix it.....

You may run into a bit more spark knock... as EGR cools the combustion chambers, and the PCM takes advantage of that to run a bit more timing.

That said, some folks have blocked off the EGR valve, and not had any problems, not even a code...... its a crap shoot.
