Default Help with tire/wheel combo?

I have a 2001 1500 Ram 4x4 SLT Laramie with the 5.9L.

I saw a 1998 Cummins with the absolute PERFECT look I want to achieve on my truck as far as tire size and stance and width go. It just looks amazing to me and I want the same on my truck. I'll post pictures of it and mine at the end.

The Cummins has a 2" leveling kit and 35" tires.

I found a 2" leveling kit for my '01 that says will fit 35x12.50 tires with stock offset.

I looked around and found the wheel and tire combo I want. Here are the stats of everything. I just want to know if I am going to rub the tires anywhere. I don't mind trimming the wheel well plastic if I have to.

Wheels:
18x9 wheel size
5 on 5.5 bolt pattern
Backspace = 4.53 in.
Offset = -12 mm

Tires:
35x12.50R-18 Mud Terrain Radial Pro Comps

Thanks for any input.

Here's my truck:

And the Cummins I want it to look like (or very close to)

You are going to need more lift to clear the 35" tires. The cummins is a 3/4 ton truck, and they sit about two inches higher than the half ton guys....... so, you want at least 4" of lift, which is going to require new (longer) control arms for the front axle...... You could do 33's with a two inch leveling kit without trouble though.

Could I still get the same "beefy" stance with 33s? Would it be a real noticeable difference?

And the leveling kit says it will fit these tires...

I would just really like to use 35s so it looks as beefy as possible without being tall. I mud every weekend almost.

What about a 3" body or suspension lift? I've seen a lot of second gen rams with a 3 inch lift and 35" tires. I just don't know if they rub theirs.

The 35" tires would probably fit with very little lift/leveling, but if you turned at all, they'd drag/rub on many things, none of them very nice.

Don't you love advertising? They aren't lying, they just aren't telling you the whole truth.

That Cummins also has a better tranny and most likely 4:10 gears. Yours has 3:55 gears, and with 35" tires it will be a dog and will eat the tranny up .

Yeah, I'm replacing the gears with at least 4.1s. I have a heavy foot and don't care at all about gas mileage since I'm about 4-6 minutes from work depending on if I'm in a rush or not. The 360 really does some work with a CAI and throttle body spacer.

But, anyways. I found a Pro Comp 3" front, 2.5" rear suspension complete lift kit w/ shocks and coils that says clears 35"s. I'm much more inclined to believe a major brand like Pro Comp instead of that cheap leveling kit which was some weird off brand.

I REALLY want these freakin' tires. If that Pro Comp lift isn't quite enough, is there a decently priced 4" kit around?

The throttle body spacer is useless. Because of the way the intake manifold is designed.

Yeah, one of my friends said something about that, but I got it dirt cheap, so why not right?

Your friend was right. Why spend money to no purpose?

Why not just put a 5" kit in and be done with it, you will then clear those 35's with no problems. A 5" 1500 lift with 35's will make your truck sit 1.5" taller than a stock 2500.
