Default Low beam/high beam issues?

Hi,

2000 RAM 2500 V-10 Xtra Cab. Came home last nite from dinner right at dusk, and noticed low beams weren't working. Went out and visually inspected - high beams worked but no low beams. So drove the backroads home to avoid issues.

Got home, shut the ignition off, then turned the headlights on. Both low beams worked fine, and switched fine between low and high beam. Turn the truck back on - low beams quit working, but as before high beams work. Fog lights work as they should - on with low beam, off with high beam whether truck is running or not.

So....is this the switch on the column, and if so, is it hard to change out?

Thanks in advance.

I would check grounds first. Grab the 01 service manual in the faq section, browse thru the wiring diagrams, and find out where all the grounds are.

Also, remove the plastic covers on the steering column and see if any of the wires are damaged.
