need help fuel pump or other problem?
ok so i got gas. drove it home 1 hour went by went to a friends drove around the city doing a few errands got done with all of it went home stayed there for like 2 hours went to go to my storage unit and my truck fired up then died then i restarted it and it would not turn over. like it was starved of fuel. i had a buddy stand by my fuel tank and i turned the key no whine.. could this be my fuel pump or something else? checked the fuse under hood not blown.. is there another possibility? its late now. will check the fuel filter tom or just replace it anyway. but any help would be appreciated. also like a idiot i took my batter cables off thought it was a bad battery terminal and me being dumb didnt see if there was any codes up first... stupid.... tried to get the codes after i put it back on not thinking of it before. none. thanks for taking the time reading this hope you can help me

Thanks did that. No luck horn work with both. Another guy told me to bang on the fuel tank by the fuel pump and if it does start and stall or stay running it was the pump. Did it and it fired up then died. Tried to restart it and nothing not even a crank over. Banged on it again fired up then died. So its my pump. But thank you for replying and trying to help. Would of been great cheap fix.

Dodgeman,
Did you see my post about you only having a downstream O2 sensor? If you only have ONE O2 sensor and it is AFTER the cat it is a bad thing for 2 possible reasons:
1. If that sensor is the one that is going to the PCM for the AF ratio to run the fuel, then your truck will be dumping A LOT more fuel than it needs. You will be running pig rich and your performance will be robbed.
2. If that is the correct sensor (downstream) that checks to make sure the CAT is functioning as it should, then you don't have an O2 sensor that is reading AF ratio for fuel (Someons disconnected/cut it). SO you are dumping more fuel than you need.......you are running pig rich.
Whoever did your exhaust should get a kick in the nuts by you. When i was running rich my truck was pretty sluggish at anything but WOT. But I got the fuel trims fixed and I gained about 15 HP and went from 9 MPG to 14 MPG.
It probably is the fuel pump, but you should test it with a fuel pressure gauge. You can get one for about 15 bucks at autozone. That will tell you if the FP is the culprit. I am thinking so as well.

Sorry man i did not see ur post. I do not have a cat. And do not have a pre cat o2 just the one that is after where the cat would be. It is my fuel pump. And i am running rich as hell and since then went from 16 mpg to 12 but havent felt any decrease of power on part throttle or WOT. But could be mistaken cause my cat was clogged and had no power to begin with. So i had it removed years ago and thats prob when the o2 was removed also.

Could potentially be the rear wiring harness, i know the ground wire in mine got corroded and started arking at the splice where it went to the fuel pump, it burnt the wires and they broke apart, it was a wonder the truck even ran since the fuel pump's ground wire was broken.
now that i think about it, this probably isnt your problem, because there would be other problems in the rear of your truck if it was the ground wire.
