Are you sure it's not just residual oil that leaked from the pumpkin into the Axel tube when they had the shaft out. It happens to me when ever I remove the shaft for maintenance work, it takes about two days to stop dripping.

I don'k think they had the axle shaft out they only had to replace the hub. Any way it's been 5-6 days and just getting worse.

If they left the shaft hanging, supported by the seal.... it is indeed 'their fault'.

I cant believe the original bill was that expensive to begin with! I paid $80 full price off of rock auto. (Timken too) They (the shop) get their product for half price almost charge you double, so now you are probably at 150-200 and then another 400+ to replace it?? PLEASE!!!! I replaced my right front hub on my 96 today in a matter of 50 minutes or less. What a joke. Wish you lived by me, Woulda done the whole job parts and labor for $250.

And yes the axle shaft does not need to be removed for this job.

Got my truck back work not done. Goodyear is the shop, the corp office needs a Dodge service to look at it to show Goodyear did wrong. I called a local dealer and yes they did agree with me it can damage the axle seal by beating on the hub. They had a few issues in the past themselves. Have to take it in and let them look at per Goodyear.

So the dealer can charge you 100 bucks..... Of course, that is still cheaper than paying someone to do that axle seal.......

I used an air hammer between the hub and spindle to get mine out. I also let the axle gently rest on my spindle and m axle seal is perfectly in tact with no leaks.
