Default stuck in 2nd gear

I have a '99 dodge 3500 slt dually automatic-5.9l cummins. the other day as i was pulling out of the drive, the truck began to shift through the gears and stopped on 2nd (max speed 20 mph). I tried giving it more throttle-which it didn't shift, then i backed off the throttle- it didn't shift. also, last week i started to notice that when going into overdrive, it would shift to early. any thoughts about what the issue could be? any help would be apprectiated! thanks

Don't know about that transmission, but with the trans on 5.2L, I would suggest to check fluid level in trans. My trans has to be done in Neutral, ot in park. It may be a front band adjustment.

Go to the DIY secion and there is a link for a 2001 Factory Service Manual. HSould be the same. Download that and check the trans section.

Welcome to DF.

There will most likely be someone along with more experience on these transmission that I have that could give you a better idea, but the manual if a great reference.

Good luck.

(zman made me do it....)
