Do it the old fashioned way. Much more accurate.

I had to delete the original post.. I screwed it up by trying to use pic's I don't own apparently.. So, here are the actual pics..

these are both spectre filters.. the volant is identical to the red spectre, except it says Volant on the end cap as opposed to spectre..

the little one is far superior..

this is the spectre I'm using that gives me MUCH better performance and economy than the Volant/other spectre..

I HIGHLY rec this one.. it breathes MUCH better..

one easy test:

when cleaning them, I use the re-charge kit solution, allow them to soak as described, and instead of spraying them, I dunk them in water, capped end first.. then pull them out in reverse direction..

while dunking them, I can feel pretty solid resistance with the capped end style filters.. none with the element 'coned' end filters.. so, being curious as I am, I capped off the open filter end and dunked them like that too.. still, the smaller filter has much less resistance..

driving, it isn't even close. the smaller coned end filter breathes a TON better than the capped end style, regardless of the added filter surface area..

I have a good hood ram air hood, and my box is closed to the engine compartment and pulls air from the scoop.. I don't know how much this affects the intake through the filter, but it may.. I'm thinking, it doesn't matter.. I'm thinking, the coned filter is just flat out a better design.
Does better breathing mean less filtration?
Things that make you go hummm!!

both filters 'filter'.. sand ain't making it through, nor is anything larger, on either one.. ones design allows for better air flow, the other restricts flow.. I will have to pull and clean the smaller one more often, in theory, but it flat out out performs the bigger one.

Cool just wanted to be sure were not giving up filtration for air flow. Thanks
