Default 1995 5.9 exhaust

Hey there, I have a 95 1500 with the 5.9 magnum, I am thinking of keeping the cats on and dualing it from the cats back with no mufflers and a x-pipe. Beside the noise I am just wondering what to expect?

define: 'cats', or most specifically, the s part... as in plural? cali rig?

if so, x that bad bear and you'll free up some ponies that are choking right now.. if not, there is really no point in an x pipe after the y pipe..

This topic is very popular, a search will yield 100's of posts. Plus, if you look 3 or 4 threads down from yours. There is one going on right now.

As in two catalytic converters. There is one after each manifold that then leads into the y pipe. I want to take out the y pipe and have a separate pipe after each cat with no muffler and an x pipe.

I did a search and no one was asking exactly what I am. I want to keep the cats ON with an x pipe not take them OFF.

EDIT: Sorry guess I should add that the exhaust was done once before from the guy I bought it from which is why it has Two Cats.

No big deal. Your question is not unique, and the search function could be a lot better. Whatever, welcome to DF.

Just heard from a friend that I should go with 3 inch pipe, take the cats off and put on a straight through muffler, what do you guys think?

I personally would either remove the cat or install a Magnaflow Hi-Flow Cat and do a Y Pipe dual from the muffler back. And I would use a MagnaFlow muffler too. With 2.5" pipe.

If you have two cats, you have california emissions. Do you live in california? Do they do emissions testing/inspections where you live?

Unless you are building a 7000 RPM race motor for that, dual three inch pipes is WAY overkill, and you would lose a good bit of your low-end grunt. 2.25 or 2.5 is the largest I would go with true duals.
