after reading everything in this thread, i too am thinkin the o2 sensor is the place to start, was actually what popped in my head after reading the thread subject. do as he said before and unplu the pre-cat o2 sensor and see what happens.

but yes the plenum also kills mpg pretty good. i was gettin like 9-10 mpg city and after full tune up with plenum and o2 sensor changed, im now at 12.5-13mpg city.

I don't care how bad the o2 has failed, you are not going to get 3.6 mpg.

You could check for a clogged cat also . Which would cause excess gas use trying to get your truck to go . Both plenum and a bad cat will put your gas mileage in single didgets along with poor performance . And if u have the death flash on top of it I couldn't imagine lol

i check the milage by setting the odometer to zero every time i fill up also by the sensor thing that says how many miles per gallon you get. to today i had to go get something about 40 mile from my house i was driving for about 20 miles on the freeway and all of a sudden i started to get 28 miles per gallon on the free way then i got 8 mpg on the streets. it was the first time i got that good of mpgs. but i dont no whats going on with this truck. i will check the oil in the morning.
