Question Squeak only when in (D)rive from under DS Floor

The past month or so I have been noticing a squeak under the driver's side floor. You can only hear it when the truck is in drive and sometimes in 3rd, and I mostly hear it when I am moving, but yesterday when I was stopped I rocked back and forth in the truck and could still hear it/feel it on the shifter. I am 99% sure it has something to do with a cable or mount needing to be greased or replaced. I just can't seem to put my finer on it.

Any suggestions or ideas?

Thanks

Shock, control arm bushing, stabilizer bar bushings or link. Maybe the rear leaf spring mount bushing? Get some penetrating oil spray and spray one thing at a time.

with truck off, grab open drivers door for a little more leverage and rock it sideways...
does it go - eek, eek, eek, eek.

under the drivers side floor pan, follow the transmission linkage from the firewall, to where the up/down rod meets the front/back rod. there are nylon bushings at that transition. grease them with a gob of grease.

Are you talked the bushings are on the DS of the transmission or they are up by the firewall?

Follow the linkage from the end of the steering column under the brake booster all the way to the tranny.

bushings are on the transmission linkage bracket at the bottom of the firewall.
2 of them, about 1/2 - 3/4 inch diameter.

So this post..... Is what I have been looking for, for over a year!!!

I have had a squeak that I could not find. I could feel it under my floor board all the way up through my steering column.

I replaced the following looking for this squeak.

1. Drivers side ball joints.
2. Front Shocks
3. Front steering stabilizer
4. Axle Joints both sides.
5. Lubed the steering column linkage probably 5 different times. (It seemed to help... Only in my mind tho)
6. Both front hubs.

I was getting ready to replace the motor mount thinking it was bad....

When I read this I went into my works warehouse grabbed some white lith grease. Sprayed the linkage from the firewall point down to the tranny. Its unbelievable. IT has worked for over 3 days now.... I was scared to post this thinking it would come back but after three days I can finnaly keep the radio off and not be on the edge of running the truck off the edge of the highway!!!

Thank you all!!!

glad it worked for you. if it does come back, use a little heavier wheel bearing grease and it'll last a little longer.

those #@#@#@ bushings about drove me insane.

"The past month or so I have been noticing a squeak under the driver's side floor".

I was having a similar problem, and it turned out to be this little guy:

We're now good friends, and enjoy telling the cute story of how we met. Naturally, I named him "Squeaky".

Glad you solved your problem!

(And yes, there is something wrong with me lol).
