Default Trans doesn't want to shift.

I just purchased a 2000 ram 1500 A/T the truck doesn't want to shift gears. It sticks in first until I let off the gas then it shifts. In 2nd it really doesn't want to shift and i have to do the gas pedal thing several times to get it to shift into 3rd. I replaced the output shaft sensor but that did nothing. Any ideas??

Perhaps you will get more support if this was in the Ram section where it belongs. I will have it moved for you.

That's most likely the problem, very common. You should adjust the band while you are in there. Get a Haynes or download the free service manual from the FAQ/DIY section in the 2nd gen forum. Read the procedure. If you feel comfortable performing the procedure, then do that too. And let us know how the fluid looks and what you find in the pan. Also, another thing you should do is install a drain plug while the pan is off. I personally would get this one.

And if you have the time, read this thread please https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...e-tragedy.html

Installed the sensor and selonoid. the fluid was dark but not all burned up and the only thing in the pan was themetal around the magnet. Took it for a spin and it shifts great. Thanks for all the help!
