RE: Puting a lift on my truck!!!!!
First off i donno much about trucks...BUT sense no one else is posting what the hell.....
1. 35" tires with 3.55gears = bad idea HUGE drain in power!
2. Do you really need 10" of lift for 35's or is that simply for looks?
3. your u joints will probly wear the fastest...as long as you get the prper sized brackets etc you should be ok
4. Ive heard that the trac bars go bad on these trucks really fast...somthing like the more lift the faster it goes bad...but im not sure on that one
5. and probly most important...the truck already sits 2" higher "ruffly" in the rear...so with 10" front and 11" in the rear your going to be sitting 3" higher in the rear.... ***throwup*** however maybe sense it will be so frickin tall it wont be noticeable...but just something to think about if you havnt!
P.S auto trannys are already sh** if you dont take care of it...

RE: Puting a lift on my truck!!!!!
I agree that 35" tires and 3.55 gears are going to suck really bad. I put a borrowed set of 33" tires on last week with 3.55 gears and it sucked on power. Hills I used to pull in overdrive with the cruise on it downshifted on almost imediately. Passing people was harder and mileage dropped about 1 mpg. The 33" is only about 1" taller than my factory tire. I gave the tires back real fast. I would say with 35's you would want 4.10 gears unless you like to go slow as sh*t taking off.

RE: Puting a lift on my truck!!!!!
Well, I have 35's on mine with 4.10 gears and around town it is no problem but on the interstate in O/D it will downshift alot on the hills, of course there are alot of hills where I live so it is pretty annoying. I don't drive more than 100 miles on the interstate so I'm not going to worry too much about re-gearing, but if I had the money I would definately move up to the 4.56 gears. Unless you are going to do purely in town driving you will NEED new gears. If you are putting 10" of lift 35's will look small anyway, I would'nt go any smaller than 38's heck then you would probably have to go with differnt gears than 4.56's too I bet. So, my opinion is if you go with the 10" lift you will need 38" tires and some pretty low gearing or you could just do the 5" lift with the coils spacer and get 35" tires and at least 4.10 gears. To give you and idea, my truck has a stock 2" lift (off-road package) with a 3" body lift and 35's.
Here is my brothers truck with 38's but I'm not sure what the lift is, most likely in the 10" range, suspension only.

RE: Puting a lift on my truck!!!!!
I don't know if it is just my truck (2001 1500 Sport Off-Road) but I have 15" wheels and they rubbed the caliper on one side. Don't know why just the one side but I had to grind down the caliper to make it stop rubbing. If I had to do it over again I would have stuck with a 16" or 17" wheel. Just a heads up.

gears!!
I've had three dodges with 35" tires and 4:56 gears and I could have gone to 4:88 on all of 'em with out a problem.
The stock 3:54 gears and overdrive automatic in our 2nd gen rams drop the RPMs out of
the engines power range.
www.randysringandpinion.com has a great calculator on their website for estimating RPMs at any given speed.
I just got my body lift to make room for 40s. I will put it on this weekend.
Definately going with 4:88s this time!
