Default P0118 after water pump change

Hey yall. I changed my water pump yesterday and now im getting code P0118. The code will not reset. I didnt doanything to my ect sensor during the water pump replacement. Also if i turn my key to the on position but leavethe engine off my temp gauge constantly reads 190ish but if i start the truck the gauge slowly works its way down below the 130 mark. My ect sensor was replaced about 8monthsall ago. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Also i have a new 195 dgree tstat in the truck, and i tested it before i installed it. The code pops up no mater how hot or cold the motor is

Sounds like a bad sensor.

Does the compressor kick out after a while? I don't know if your blend door is cable, or funny little motor controlled.... Look under the dash, passenger side, just above the trans tunnel, if you see a little black box, about 3/4 inch thick, and about 2" by 2", heatertreater may be in your future. If you don't...... need to figger out what else is going on.

Try making sure your ECT is plugged in good. (You should only have the one.)

Forget heater treater. A 98 uses a cable for the blend door. Here is how to check and adjust it. Name: DSCF0460.jpg

I'm having the same problem you were after doing alot of work and a coolant flush. I get the same code and the temperature gauge works occasionally.

I just replaced the ECT today and the cable is hooked on good so I know its not that.

Just wondering if your problem was really just a loose cable.

Cause im stumped.............
