Please help
I am officially and totally confused .... and need to know for sure as I plan to install modified kegger, timing set, water pump....etc next week.
This is in the FSM located here on DF.

What I am reading is different from this. Did this change with a particular year model?
Thanks.

NO, that's the way he should have done it to begin with. Very simple. But he didn't do that. Another example of how reading a Haynes or downloading and reading the free manuals in the FAQ section has bit some one.

OK. I feel less confused. What was throwing me is the postings stating both gears should be "12 o'clock" when it should be crank at 12 o'clock and cam at 6 o'clock. Been that way on every vehicle I have ever worked on (well, except the DOHC Jaguar - and that's a different beast).
It is kind of sobering to read posts here, knowing that VWandDodge and his family has suffered such a loss. I would like to encourage everyone in the DF to keep his family in their hearts and help with the efforts of drewactual and zman on our behalf. I only know of him from DF, but am greatly saddend by his loss.

I wonder if valves are bent as well, allowing each cylinder to be open. May require pulling heads to be sure, and to be sure that a piston did not get damaged by slapping a valve or three....

But yes, if you do work, go to autozone and spend the 20 bucks on the haynes manual. I have a HAYNES, CHILTONS and the FSM.
im hoping it didnt bend any valves because the motor didnt crank over long enough to do any damage except the pushrods
But this thread you posted from moparchat said to do 12/12 not 6/12.
