You can't do that with these motors(bend valves if the timing is off), lucky for you. You already tore it apart and reset that quick? Are you sure you got all the grounds back on, and the crank and cam sensors are plugged back in? If you time according to those 2 links, I don't think it's the problem.

what makes you certain there is no compression?

there is a wire that reaches across the motor, from positive power block, under the accessory bracket, and to the bottom of the coil.. it is out of sight, so it's out of mind when you put that rig back together.. it goes to the bottom of the coil, and it's easy to forget.. I'm hoping this is the issue..

i got all the wires back on the motor. i pulled the #1 spark plug out crank it over and it has nothing. the truck sounds like all the plugs are out when your cranking it

if it never fired at all, the starter is only going to turn it a fraction of the torque the engine does under it's own power.. plus, it would have sounded like a heavy metal concert for the brief few seconds- and you would have known beyond doubt something was jacked up..

I'm thinking something else is going on here..

pull the valve covers, unbolt the rockers, pull the push rods out.. check 'em out..

they aren't that expensive.. you'll likely have a benji in a new set..

lesson learned, fix 'er up- move on to the next item on the list.. no worries..

hell, I think I have 8 brand new ones.. 695's I think they are.. want 'em? $30.. that should cover shipping (that dang plenum plate cost $32 to ship)..

so if they were bent it would cause the loss of compression right
