Default 4WD Problems, Go Figure!

Ok I am typing this on my phone so forgive my sloppiness. My CAD unit will not engage properly. If I remove the outboard vaccuum hose, it will engage. However, when I go to disengage it, I have to re connect the outboard hose. The switch is working because the vaccum swaps and it will engage/disengage but not without me crawling through god knows what to pull off that vaccum hose. Any suggestions?

Make sure vacuum as actually switching from line to line when you shift the t-case. Should be vacuum at the outboard line in 2wd, and at the inboard line in any other gear. Also make sure the vent line is clear. (from the t-case switch, runs up behind the engine, and ends...)

Does the vent line have a check valve?

No, it has a little cap on the end, more like a filter I guess. It has to be able to draw air, else, the CAD will never move.

Probably best bet would be to start at the switch, and see what ya got. Vent line should be green, supply (vacuum) is white, red and black go to the cad.

The vent is clear. In 2wd the vaccum is 15in/hg at the out board when I engage 4wd the vaccum on the outboard side wont release until it has been manually allowed to escape by me pulling the hose off

Ok, I am tired of messing with this vaccum CAD junk. It's a great idea and I would love to have it working correctly, but its just to unreliable. I want a more reliable connection. Does anybody know of any alternatives besides the dynatrac or spyntech? It needs to be reliable, I work around several farms and I lock in at least twice a day. Im not going for the dynatrac because I need a solution ASAP and I am not financially capable of $2500 worth of 4wd when I only payed $4000 for the truck! Thanks in advance guys, and thanks HeyYou for helping me yesterday!

Posilock is what you want, it is a cable actuated system replacing the factory cad unit vac lines.

the spintech and dynatrack systems are spindle conversions, our trucks have constantly spinning spindles that are attached to axel half-shafts. Those kits convert the spindle to a early ford type spindle with locking hubs.
