Were they already set up with HID or do you add that? If you added, do you have a link for what you added?

These are the bulbs I used, LINK

and the ballasts I used are ones I had from the kit I was using in my 94. I dont have a link anymore but it was a VVME 55W 6000k 9004 kit.

The new lights use a H1 in the projector and a 9005 hi beam.

Prototype,

Are those housings direct bolt in? Any physical modding?

Plug and play wiring?

Thanks

Yep, they bolted right in, they will be out of adjustment when they first go in and will not be flush, but there are adjusters on them and they fit nice, the wiring will need to be modified a bit because they're wired for 9007 and our trucks, at least in my 98, use 9004. I also just snipped the low beam wire because I use a relay harness to pull juice straight from the battery for the HIDs.

So they way my wires are is: Stock harness to high beams, and low beam wire from stock harness to relay trigger. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for checking back in and responding.

Knowing what you know now, is there anything you see differently or would do differently? For instance, another housing or HID kit/bulbs etc.?

The retrofit source shows some positive feedback around here, among others.

Thanks!

I would be interested in putting HID in mine, but have been burned trying to out projectors in my Yota and seen others here on DF with problems they struggled with. And I don't want to spend $200 either. If I get bold one day, I may give it a try and then post up part numbers and sources for components with a DIY. Wish there was such thread now....

i got mine from anzo. maybe ill upload a pic. non hid just h7 projector style and its bright. the high beam is too. Except on highways if theres a car heading towards my around a turn and im in a truck, they get blinded pretty god and get pissed when i bright them after they bright me lol. I personally dispise hid's. the guy here puts them in for people. low and high theres no difference in light output. both setings are BRIGHT AS HECK000k temp. all the high does it raise the level a bit. those styles are frusterating. the things that suck about the projectors ia the notorious 1 inch gap that caused my passenger side one to spring a leak.

The particular projectors from this post are no longer available. Looks like a different ad for it.

I found these versions and wonder if anyone is able to comment on them as a reputable choice. Price seems good... ? < $200, right gdstock?

I was actually quite surprised with the quality of the housings, I paid just a bit under $130 (California sales tax) and I like them. The HID kit is one of the best you can get off ebay , I've had it for over a year with no problems. As for retrofitting, I'm not all that much into modding, I'd rather buy something that is made for me than try to make it myself. But if a PnP kit wasn't available, I'm sure I would have tried. I can't stand using halogens anymore. And having the projectors help me be safer on the road.
