Default Water Temp. Gauge

Hey guys,
I searched and couldn't find anything on gauges on here besides posts about pillar pods etc. My water temp gauge hasn't worked since I fixed my plenum. My oil pressure either. I know what is wrong with the oil gauge, I busted the tower reinstalling the intake manifold by myself lol. I replaced both water temp sensors however and the gauge still doesn't work. Any ideas? If I put aftermarket gauges on will it affect my performance?

Look to see that when you were installing the rest of the parts on the front of the motor, that you didn't damage or pull one of the connectors off by accident.

gauges themselfs cannot affect peformance they just measure how things are operating

Sorry for the late reply im at work, I don't know why my sig didn't come up its a 1996 5.9 ram 1500. Wire is a possibility I have replaced both sensors so they are connected. What I mean by the gauges affecting performance is that it uses water temp to adjust fueling and other pcm parameters. If I remove the sensor and install a mechanical gauge it wont tell the computer the reading

In that case, you need to "t" off with adapters.

if your truck has 2 temp sensors then leave the one that communicates with the pcm alone, and swap the other one out for a mechanical sending unit. us 98+guys only have 1 sensor so we cant do that

So t the oil pressure with the sending unit and mech. Gauge. Pull the temp huge sensor and leave the one wire sending unit and route the capillary tube to the old port sounds good.
