Same here. I am getting ready to replace upper dash panel and while I have this apart I am thinking of replacing heater core. Not having issues with it, but if it starts in a couple of month, I will not be a happy camper. Might as well replace it while I am close to it anyway.
wow so I've been trying to replace the heater core and man is this a bitch! I'm going to do a write up more then likely to help people in the future. A more step by step. Haynes sucks. the worst manual ever. Never helps me. It garbage. But I finally got the old core out and the new one in. Now i just have to put everything back together and I broke the clip on the end of the cable that has the park drive 1st 2nd reverse. Whatever that is called. I broke the end off. I have bolts everywhere I have to figure out where all this stuff goes. My dash broke like a champ when I pulled it out and so did the bezel or whatever that goes around the cluster. It cracked to. FML. I hope to have this done tomorrow. This is a super crappy job.
I did realize antifreeze was all leaked on the floor as I hadnt noticed the dampness before but when your laying on the floor you notice fast. I also found a ton of antifreeze in the holder the holds the heater core and some next to it under the dash. It was time to replace this bad boy.
