Default What Do You Think?

Looking to get a durango for the wife found this on craigslist, what do you guys think? I like the mileage but not sure about the tranny issue. Does it sound like an easy fix? thanks

With only 51k and new paint and tranny issues.... Sounds fishy

But easy? Paying someone to fix something is very easy...

Don't know about the market there, but $4000 here will buy one without trans or other issues. Also do you know why it needed paint at 51,000 miles? Maybe just sun exposure. A transmission issue may be minor, ut then again, it could be a catastrophe just waiting to happen.

not sure about the paint but my 1500 after having it in this desert sun for 6 months is peeling the clear coat off my hood and roof. The sun here is brutal. Overall it seemed like a good deal to me and i might be able to talk this guy down a bit but wasnt sure why it wouldnt be shifting out of 4th. also i gotta figure out if its stuck in 4th or just wont shift past 4th

Maybe you can "test drive" it to a tranny shop for them to take a look see. It may be an adustment, governor solenoid, or something else simple (an inexpensive).

I wouldn't go for it.
Mileage is too low for a 99.

the tranny problem could have been minor but you also dont know how long they were driving it with that issue, and i agree with dodge dude, 51k for a 12 year old truck sounds real low, could have had so many problems not listed that tey couldnt drive it for to long

so it won't switch out of 4th gear as in overdrive 4th gear? if that's the case, then it's either a bad/faulty valve body or a bad/faulty torque converter clutch solenoid.
