Is there anywhere that sells a "test pipe" to replace the cat on these trucks?

I don't know what a test pipe is but any muffler shop would be able to splice in a piece of pipe in place of the cat, though many wont cut one out for you. If you have the 2 in X 1 out cat like I used to you'd probably want to pick up some y pipe somewhere first.

i cut my cat off my 2001 dodge ram 5.9 gasser and it has a o2 senor before and after the cat... i took a smaller pipe and a hammer and i just gutted it all out and then welded the cat back in place...

i don't have a check engine light on or anything and i noticed it being noticeable louder and meaner sounding. i'm running a single super 44 with a 3in tail pipe

I just got a section of pipe the same size as the rest of my exhaust that was stretched out a little on 1 end, cut my cat out, the spliced the non-extended end over what was the other end so I would have a more reliable lap joint instead of a butt weld. My local muffler shop will finish weld that pipe in for me, but they say it is illegal for THEM to remove it & straight pipe it for legal reasons. I thinks cats are stupid anyway, but it should not be too hard to accomplish what you want. If your state does have smog testing, you may get busted, so be careful. Mine does not, so I don't worry.

Jegs and Summit both sell "Off Road" y-pipes. Direct replacement for the cat on our trucks.

If you find the section & length of pipe you need plus 6 or so inches longer, you can have a muffler shop slightly expand the ends so it will slide over the stock pipe you cut into, then all you need are 2 clamps to hold it in place. That will do it on the cheap. Harbor freight also sells an exhaust pipe expander for cheap, I have 1 & like it.

BTW - harbor freight also sells an exhaust pipe cutter that really works better than anything else I have ever seen, it has 4 pipe cutting wheels and only has to be turned 1/4 of a turn back & fourth a few times, then adjusted tighter like any pipe cutter and in about 2 minutes there is a very clean cut pipe. And it only costs about $20 - I have 1 & have used it about 5 times with no issues.
