Default 1997 Dodge Ram 1500

I have a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with a 5.9L engine. Its a Laramie SLT. It has a overhead console display that shows the compass and temp. but not fuel mileage. Is there anyway that i can take one off of a newer model dodge ram like a 1999 or 2000 and put it on mine so then that i can see my fuel mileage?

when i drive my durango i always had feel trying to get it to say 0mpg from a dead stop. i could only get it to 2.

i'm sure glad my ram don't have it I'd use a tank a gas each 2 days trying to do the same thing

on a side note i use a tank of fuel every 3 days nay 9.8mpg lol

oh ok. well i just thought it would be nice to have. but i can get one that plugs into the OBDII port from JcWhitney for 89.00. and from what i've heard, its pretty accurate. i was just looking into the overhead ones so then that way i can see the fuel mileage and still put a chip in it. I'm getting about 13 mpg avg right now between hwy and city. lookin to boost my fuel mileage a little. thinking about putting a cold air intake kit, a tornado, and a hypertech chip in it.

CAI only improves throttle response a little and maybe the exhaust note.
Doesn't really do much of anything.

A Tornado is snake oil. Spend your 20 on gas instead.

Get an SCT, not a Hypertech. More power. Either way, for a tuner you will need a 180* t-stat and maybe cooler spark plugs.
