I did mine. I didn't notice any loss when towing. Of course, mine was blown so bad, it could only get better from where it was before.

I shaved mine down just as far as I could. Prolly 2 inches or so.

I REALLY like the way the truck runs now. I did my timing chain later, (by about two weeks....) and that was a major improvement as well. I can cruise (too) easy at 70 without trouble. Truck accelerates better, holds speed better, and vacuum accessories work better...... I got another manifold though, and modified that one, so, when the time came, it was just a manifold swap.

I looked down my throttle body, and I could SEE pools of oil in there..... I think I got like half a quart out of the intake when I took it off. I wish I woulda got pics.

I haven't pulled a trailer yet, but like HeyYou, mine was so bad, it could only get better.

i'm rolling at 163k miles on my 360 so i need to do my timing chain but i don't got a extra 100 bucks for the t chain and water pump at the moment... after winter i plan on doing a towing cam from comp cam and when i do that i'll make sure to have money for the double roller and new water pump along with the cam and spring

so if your guys opinon would i be better to cut a 1.5 or 2ins off?

heres how my truck is set up its a 2001 dodge ram 2500 dana 60s front and rear with 4.10 gears. 35x1250x20x toyo mud tires on 20x10 rims i'm running 9.8mpg and 2 quarts of oil a month now....

i trust your opinons and imm gonna do what you think would work better as far as cutting done the intake

Don't think half an inch will really make much difference. I cut 'em down all the way to open them up more, so more air could flow. Your truck is a bit newer than mine, and I have more miles than you, but, not by much...... Same thing should work good for you as well.

Also include 365 bucks for a custom tune, and about 200 for a wideband O2 sensor when you do the cam.........

I only WISH I already had 4.10's.... I got the lovely 3.55's..... peachy.

Hemifever Tuning. He writes tunes for the dodge trucks, and actually has a clue. His are considered "the best" by the folks here. This is also considered to be one of the best "bang for the buck" mods, even on a stock truck. He is easy to work with, has an excellent rep, and even good customer service.

Wideband O2 is just a more sensitive O2 sensor than what the PCM uses. Just hooks to a gauge on your dash somewhere... (wherever you care to mount it....) and tells you if your engine is running rich/lean. Helps Hemifever 'dial in' your tune. If you have logging capability, that's even better.

Depending on how much of a change the cam is, a tune will help you get more out of it, than just the stock programming. If you just wanna go on the cheap, you can "cheat", and install the Harland Sharp 1.7 ratio roller rockers. (stock ratio is 1.6, I think) This 'fools' the cam into longer duration at .050, and a bit more lift. It's a lot like installing a slightly meaner cam, without having to rip the engine all apart. You can get 'em for under 300 bucks, and it DOES make a difference. (also has the advantage of being a direct bolt-on. all you gotta do is pull the valve covers. quick, painless, and 'easy')

the comp cam i'm looking at getting is 319 dollars and new springs are 150.00 i did find the 1.7 hs for 350.00 the cam i was loooking at has .480 lift so its gonna have a mean sounding idle...

for the power gains is the roller rock 1.7s better than doing a cam or ?

cause i'm all for saving some cash but i would like to get as much towing power i can get out of my little 360
