Default Custom Cold Air Intake

So I have a spectre performance intake thats just a typical filter inside of a heatshield and I was thinking about running some 3 inch diameter spectre air ducts from the front of the truck to inside the heatshield. Ive already realized the potential problem of water and debris getting into the heatshield and then the intake. But my question is will water be able to travel up the ducts in a worst case scenario such as pouring rain?
I wouldnt think water would be able to travel up the duct especially if it has bends and goes upward, because it wouldnt be like a vacuum inside it would just be a flow of air through the duct if your going at say 60 mph right?
Any thoughts?

Lotsa folks run some variety of ram air, and don't have a problem. Any water/debris will collect on the filter first, and then be sucked into the engine as a mist. (not the debris, the water......) You might actually run better in the pouring rain. Water cools the combustion chambers.

I don't think it will be all that much of an issue though. Careful on the water crossings though, submerging the air intake end of the tube will most certainly cause you to hear horrible noises, and then need to go for a swim........ Not to mention fetch the tow truck.

Yea I was wondering how easy it would be for water to get into the engine through the filter, unless of course it was completely submerged. I was guessing water would be evaporated before it could do much damage but then I hear stories about commercial CAIs sucking up water and ruining the engine.

Those folks are usually doing something that they really shouldn't be with their trucks when that happens though.......

Ive never seen one but you could probably make your own, or bring the the air filter into the cab like mud racers do!
