Default What degree should my electric fan turn on?

I have a 195 degree t-stat and I'm planning on installing a electric fan when I do my plenum this week, I'm probably going to get a t-bird fan and a cheap controller.
I found a "preset 185" controller that caught my eye because of good reviews and my reasoning is a preset fan controller will be more reliable than an adjustable one, I could be completely wrong. Should I get this one or should I get an adjustable one? What degree is ideal? Before the t-stat opens, the same time, or after?
I drive very minimally (3-5 miles a day) and I never see my truck get up to operating temperature if that helps out any thing.

given your use, an e-fan seems like a waste of money to me

Probably improve his gas mileage, not having to spin that heavy fan, that isn't doing anything for him..... I doubt his engine even gets completely warmed up.

You could just use a thermo switch, on at 200, off at 185 or whatever. Rock Auto sells them. FAR more reliable than any controller.

Thanks heyou I'll check that out.
My main reasoning is the one time I worried about over heating was when we went off roading on dry sand and 100 degree weather, it got a little past the 210 mark and my friends Dakota actually over heated. An electric fan would be able to run at full speed without bringing up the Rpms. I've also sucked up a lot of leaves, daisy things, and mud off roading. I'd like to be able to turn it off when I want to. I also like the idea of it running full blast if I ever get stuck in rush hour tradfic on the highway and the ability to warm up my truck faster. Hopefully my ac will be colder too

So 200 is a good degree for it to turn on? I've never dealt with an electric fan before and I've read probably a 100 threads and i still don't know what temperature. Thanks a lot!

Are there any holes in the block or radiator where I can put this thermo switch? Or do I need to splice it into the radiator lines?

Also anything thatll bring this thing up to double digit mpg is awesome

If you get theo one from rockauto, it will probably have instructions. If it is screw in type, out a tee where temp sensor is. Most are capilary type.

Does anyone have a link to one that will work with our trucks? I like the screw in type (not the ones that go in the rad find). I can't find the right product anywhere

There was another thread on this recently, that had links to the switches (at rock auto I think...) and also an adapter that went into the upper radiator hose.
