restoman: If you want to keep the truck, and never worry about your trans again, check out PATC Mega Viper. You DO have a lotta miles on the truck..... done anything with the plenum yet? (check out the stickied thread at the top of this forum.)
The plenum has been solid thus far. Hope I don't jinx myself but so far I've only had to replace the water pump and coil along the journey. Really doesn't use oil. I've had to replace the axle u-joints several times and axle seals a couple of times. It has served me well. Thank for the info I'll check it out. I just got back from a trans shop nearby. They want $1400 to rebuild it if I carry it in. That didn't exactly make my day.... :-)

How have you been checking the plenum?

And for that $1400 you'd get a rebuilt version of a transmission that was already too weak when it left the assembly line. You'd be way ahead of the game to just give PATC a call.
