does it ever get any better if you mess with the timing? with how old it is the timing chain could be stretched. the old tbi trucks are not very powerful and are impossible to mod for power unless converted to obd2 or carb.

no messing with the timing didn't seem to help either ...when you drive this thing very little throttle or wide open it runs decent but its mostly mid peddle it don't wanna run period it starts back firing and sputtering but in park it revs up great .....i changed the O2 sensor the one for the 360 plug in was diffident i had to use one for a 318 so all the sensors are for a 318 and the computer that is on it now is the factory 318 computer also if ,didnt know if any of that matters

Don't know, but cam or crank sensor? What about plug wire routing? Could be crossfiring.
