I will tell you where I get my information even though none of it contradicts your last 3 paragraphs. Years of learning with the owner of Sache Rod Shop, building popup low profile HID conversions for fieros and just a general thurst for doing things the right way.

One of the reasons HIDs melt headlights as they get older is becasue they burn hotter as they get older, one fix is to install a small fan to vent the housing, this opens them up to the elements more but apperently these headlights already have that problem.
Fair enough...I apologize for sounding so harsh in my previous post.

This is why none of the aftermarket HID setups are DOT approved or legal in the states...
I'm gonna stereotype here and say you can usually spot these setups because they usually have the less effective blue lights blinding you as they come towards you and a teenager behind the wheel. Which is funny since seniors are the ones that really could use the added light..(9000k or higher blue bulbs put out light thats less effective for the human eye to see at night and are really just used for "look at me I need attention" factor in most cases) 6500k or lower is what you want if you actually want an improvment in functionality... (faint blueish -stark white to yellowish hue.)
I put HID lights in my fathers f150 and they even have the correct housings and still get flashed by others who are annoyed simply because the truck is so high off the ground the light blinds them...Projectors are the best setup for HID's in a case like that. one of the bulbs melted the housing too recently (this is why aftermarket warn you they are not approved for HID bulbs..
Of course people said the ebay projectors I have sucked too... I guess its because they come wired for the sport type bulb harness and most dont know enough to swap the two wires around which dramatically improves the light output..
Just my opinion of course...

your complaining is getting old... just because you have a problem with something doesn't mean everyone does..i could care less about the oncoming traffic.. HIDs are 100% legal in my state so other people can deal with them... plus i spent a little over 100 dollars for my HIDs so i'm gonna use them..

The mixed reviews I'm getting are enough for me to give these lights a try, first with the 9004 bulbs, then HID if I decide the 9004 isn't good enough. One piece of information nobody puts here is the amount of time they used these lights.
i've had my HID set up for over a year... this is my 2nd set of 1pc lights.. i had the chrome before.. i had the chrome 1 pc housing for about a year and half... and then i went with black since i'm blacking out off my lights...

I rest my case...this is exactly the mentality I meant by my stereotype...Thanks for helping me make my point.

Last time I checked all HID lights that are not factory installed oem are not DOT (department of transportation, they decide whats safe for street use in any state) approved therefore are not legal for street use period...
here's a couple links to help educate you on the matter..
http://www.squidoo.com/dot-approved-hid-kit-and-bulbs
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Are_HID_lights_illegal

That and the endless amount of threads with people complaining about them that I have read about them both here and other forums I belong too since likely before you were old enough to drive as well as first hand experience as both a user of HID lights and a driver who has been blinded by inconsiderate or ignorant owners who have them installed improperly entitle me to an opinion.
and before you make comments about my complaining may I suggest rereading your posts under your profile...Your "opinions" seem to clash with more members here than anyone lately....I am stating facts and observations to back up my "opinions" and I state when something is my opinion....Your the one who has a hard time with someone not agreeing with you judging by previous posts.
I'm going to state again to be clear I have nothing against using HID lights when they are installed properly as to not cause a dangerous blinding distraction to other drivers on the road....I think thats a reasonable opinion to have. some people on forums like these are unaware of the FACTS about this topic and I'm just trying to give them a heads up before they purchase the wrong stuff..

K2 Motors advertises tha their lights are made by "Made by SAE/DOT approved manufacturer using materials that meet or exceed OEM standards."

But a call, rather 5 calls and getting through to a person and not an answering machine, to K2 Motor got to the truth.

"Yes, they are made to DOT, SAE and OEM specs but THEY ARE NOT STREET LEGAL because they are not stamped as such. You use them at your own risk."

Not that you'd care, but if you blind oncoming traffic and cause an accident, you'd be liable for causing it. A peace officer can site you for blinding oncoming traffic as well...I'll tell you man, and this is off topic a bit, but your comment has "I'm mature" written all over it.

I hope your transmission blows its guts out all over your mommy's driveway and she won't give you the money to fix it. I hope your axles break. I hope your driver's seat fails and rams a spring up the back of your neck all the way to your tailbone.

More than all of those things combined, I hope you grow the hell up really soon.

I got my lights from K2 motors. I have installed 6k HIDs in them too. When going with HIDs I would recommend getting projectors.

I am holding back on pm photos of a thre fatality wreck I had the misfortune to come up to about 3 weeks ago - due to 10,000K HID lights blinding the driver. Two victims were children. Idiot went to jail (he as also under the influence). But a mother and two children died. Only the teenage son in the front passenger seat survived, telling paramedics that his mother was blinded by the driver in the other lane......

Don't care about oncoming traffic - don't come to this neck of the woods.....
