Default Broken snap ring?

Well I finally got around to start pulling the busted transfer case out of the truck. I have a few questions about this. Ive done it once before and am just wondering if its possible to remove the TC without dropping the crossmember? It looks like I could do it that way but im not sure.

Also when I pulled the driveshaft out i would say a half a quart of atf came out of the tailshaft extension housing. Would that be due to the snap ring breaking off in there?

Thanks
David

No that just happens when you pull the slip yoke out. If your gonna have it out there's no reason not to pop that last piece off and check it out though.

Well i would pull it apart and look at it but if i do that it will most likely void the warranty and i wont be able to exchange it. I was just curious cause when I pulled the driveshaft out on the old transfer case the first time i did this there was no fluid that came out.

Well I got the transfer cause out yesterday in about 2 hours. Was able to do it without removing the crossmember.. Just need to have some flexible fingers lol. Only problem i had was the loc-tite was a little much for the studs on the case.

Since it was out so fast it gave me time to enjoy a few cold ones and get to play around with the new toy. Now im just waiting to get a ride to the junkyard to pick up the new case.

New toy: to me!!!

Yeah me too. We were on a live firing range, doing a "run-down" with the canadian version of your M4A1, when a soldier went barrel first into the ground. Instead of doing a complete unload before checking to see if the barrel was free of obstruction, he just tipped it up and looked down the barrel. He was imediately kicked off the range.
