im new to the compressor scene, i will have to look into a york compressor. i was looking at the inverter as i also have many power tools i would like to power, none of them would take the full power of the inverter but my current 2KW inverter is to small for them.

400 amps? You are going to have a REAL hard time keeping up with that. I don't think it's possible for under 400 bucks. Even a couple of seriously heavy duty alternators wouldn't be able to keep up, not to mention a place to mount them. A second battery isn't going to help, as at that draw, it won't last long at all. With that amount of demand, you run a serious risk of smoking the alternator, and the voltage regulator. (which is in the PCM......)

If you want a compressor of that caliber, convert it to use a gas engine.

i did. i just suggested a mopar product instead of a york. the only thing he would have to do is get a combination pulley like in the video.

Your mopar product was suggested in Post #8? I see now after I've read it.

Basically, we all agree that an inverter is just not feasible. Run a compressor off the engine or separate gas powered compressor or gas generator!!! lolz

ok, so ill look into the engine mount then. i currently drive a 1500 but plan to own a 24V 2500 with in the next few months. i do not want to give up my AC so it will need to be an extra mount point added some place and a larger belt or an additional pulley off another item and a second belt.

so just to get this straight. the york compressor is simply the company that made AC pumps for all types of cars through out the years. these pups are re-purposed to fill an air tank with a few mod parts? I would need to weld a mount that attaches to some of the bolts holding on the alternator, ac pump, or power steering (depending on where i mount it) and then i would need to find a double wide pulley to add onto one of the current pulleys in the serpentine system and install a second small belt linking that to the compressor? then i run perhaps break line or flexible hydraulic line to the back of the truck witch would have the 25 gallon tank. i would then need to install a switch to change idle rpm of the engine if the current 800-900 rpm is not adequate or will the truck senses its about to die and kick the idle up automatically?

There is no doubt that engine driven compressor is super sweet. I still think the most utilitarian route would be the PTO generator for the other times when you want to drive "X" random multi kilo watt ac load. Specially since you are looking at a new diesel. I think most have the PTO tc option installed by the factory.

perhaps or ill just keep the 3KW inverter i built in the back of the truck and use that. cheaper is better in my situation.

if my previous post is correct then id hope to install a new compressor on the engine for under 150.00
