Default slipping tranny will show a code?

ok my tranny it seems like a few times a week it slips really fast and quick for a few seconds.so i went to a tranny shop and the guy at the counter says to me is your truck showing a code. I said no and he goes well then.what on earth is that all about?I went to the tranny shop so they can see if there little code reader will pick up anything and he says that.My truck before this dodge was a 90's ford f 250 and the tranny was slipping and there was no check engine light or code light on and another tranny shop came outside hoooked up a code reader and told me I needed a rebuild.what you think this guys talking about.im mean im pretty tired but to me it made no sense to me.

I got the same truck. Cycle the key on and off 3 times and if there is a code it will appear where the digital odometer shows the miles.

also I climb this real steep hill on my way to work everyday and once in a while it seems like it slips a bit but that's the only time.

How many miles on the trans? When was the last time you had a fluid and filter change, or a band adjustment?

after I changed the sensor and selonoid it shifts fine. didn't adjust bands though that might be why I get a slip every now and then.

You can buy a built to the hilt trans from PATC for 2500. You can get a local rebuild from anywhere from a grand, to the same 2500, depending on much upgrading you do. Or, you can rebuild it yourself, with some major upgrades similar to the PATC mega viper, for under a grand.

unless the truck as a whole is shot, "Hey You is correct. Chaec around and you'll be surprised to see the prices for transmissions. I've seen them on the web for a grand.
