They did indeed offer the five speed, but, they are rarer than an honest politician. Best bet is to find a whole truck that has what you need. There are a couple of threads on this swap here on the forums.

well i can get a 5 speed 4x4 tranny from a Junk Yard for dirt cheap... and i can pick up a 2wd 1500 5speed pickup truck around here for about 1000-1500 in good running shape

the clutch pedal and linkage should be the same for a 1500 2wd as a 2500 4x4

If you look at the final price tag though, you are going to spend more than a really good quality built auto.......

So far as I can tell, there is NO difference between the PCM's physically, programming is gonna be different though. If you don't address that aspect, you will get a host of codes for automatic trannie that isn't there any more. Wiring harness differences as well. Harness shouldn't be any different between two, and four wheel drive for this particular purpose.... I don't think..... Not sure the PCM cares about two, or four wheel drive either.

Well you can trick the computer into thinking its always in neutral but what I was going to do was to buy a sct tuner, kills two birds with one stone
