This I am sure is perplexing.....where did the 5.2 come from? Was it sittion out somewhere and have anything exposed where creitters could have gotten in and nested? Sure sould like cooling system is plugged up somewhere.

A cracked head could close up when it is cold, and open when hot. How about a radiator pressure tester? It may force any water through cracked head and into combustion chamber possibly. Pressure it up and see if it holds.

Yep have pressure tested it more than once and it holds just fine. One of the reasons I think it could only open when hot. I think I won't know for sure until I tare down the engine. Which I plan to do when I swap in the 408. Because I want to know what is causing this. After chasing this problem for 3 years I really want to know.

I don't think anything could have clogged the cooling system. I haven't flushed the system but I did put the new radiator on.

For 96 and up PCM's, you can get an SCT tuner, and three tunes for 265 bucks. They are indeed flash programmable. SCT is the only one I know of that supports the 96-97 PCM's.

I would set the fan to come on 100% at 185, and see if that doesn't take care of the issue......

HeyYou,
Yes I am going to get a SCT tuner for the 408 from hemifever. I will try setting the fan to 100% at a lower temp and see what happens. But it still doesn't really explain the why. When the swap was first done the engine didn't overheat ever at all. So something has happened to this engine. I just can't figure out what.

Here ya go.

Those are 38X12.50X16.5 TSL SX Super Swampers on recentered Humvee wheels.
I have a Tera Flex HP60 in the rear and a narrowed Ford HP44 in the front. ARB lockers, Air bag suspension (no coil springs) tons of other stuff too. Now if I could just get the darn engine to run right I would be a happy camper. Anyone got a winning lotto ticket for sale?

Not a thing wrong with a Comanchee. They are good little trucks and if you look you can get them cheap too.
