Best option be to get some new speakers and a new amp? Get rid of the whole infinity system completely?
Yeah. If your just listening to music and not worried about blasting the windows out of your truck you don't need an amp. Your deck is sufficient enough to power the door and behind the seat speakers. I would also get new wiring as well if you're replacing the whole system.

I think this is the route I'll go. If i get good speakers they should be able to handle an amp farther down the road should i do desire to make that step, correct?
Just make sure your speakers can deal with what your amp is handing them. Don't get speakers that have a max of 25 watts, and expect them to live very long behind a 500 watt amp.

I have an old RadioShack 100Watt Rack Mount Amp that I use for my computer speaker's, I once used some real light speaker wire, and the positive and negative ends touched and I kid you not it caught fire, a small flame, but still...
The distortion you're hearing is from the speakers having built on amps and radio trying to send them power too. Take a look at the infinity kappa perfects. They having amazing sound quality for the price.
