Default 4x4 issue

ok, read a lot of threads on this but still no answer... I have a 200 ram sport 1500, bought it transfer case was junk, replaced it, trans case seems to work fine but, hubs not engaging.... replaced actuator & switch, vacuum seems fine switches @ actuator, but still not engaging...

any thoughts would be helpful, also, what if, and is it possible, someone put the fork in backwards?????

thanks
d

There is this http://www.dodgeram.org/tech/repair/..._engagment.htm and also make sure there are no burs on either shaft. And the shoes on the fork could very well be worn.

Im not sure what your problem is. You say the hubs arent engaging but then you say the tranfer case doesnt try to engage. Have you tried to manually shift the transfer case from underneath? Im a little confused maybe you can clarify this a little more..

Im not sure if its possible for it to be installed backwards or not. You can pull it all off the axle and have a look. Maybe there isnt enough vacumm.

I had to replace my actuator gasket a few years back and if I remember correctly, it looked like it could be installed without the fork even on the collar to engage the axle. 5 min. check.... 4 bolts and a $2 gasket to find out.

Also, a few months back I had a truck come into our shop that had the front pumpkin hollowed out by the previous owner. No gears, axles or U joints. The new owner had no idea why the truck wouldnt engage tho!
