My paint was fine with the stock hood, and its fine with the fiberglass one.. if its a concern, get some spray adhesive and fix it..

I am almost certain mine HAD one of those, but I have never seen it. My hood looks great (only part of truck that looks great!)

If your engine gets hot enough to damage hood, you gotta bigger problem! Should be fine.

I was concerned about mine for a while because it was hanging down in the front. The day I saw it sagging in the back I went *yoink* and away she went. It's been over a year (maybe 2 or 3, I don't know) and it's all good.
Same thing with my sisters truck. I saw it sagging and yanked it too.
Then again, I think the hood insulation was an option from the factory because at least one guy on here got their truck brand new and it didn't have hood insulation.

A week after i ripped mine off my 1996, I had an engine fire. It is meant to fall on a burning engine and smother it.

It would have probably saved the peeling paint on my hood due to the fire, but the wiring harness, TB, air cleaner, and pretty much every sensor needed to be replaced. Luckily I had a pro flo air cleaner on there and not the plastic stock one.

I believe that is more for sound deadening than heat. When Ford had problems with valve guides in 1977 & 78 adding insulation under the hood to reduce the noise was their first fix until they finally started doing it right with new valve guides.
