For those of you that have it, how much difference can you tell between the stock intake?

Are you talking about the air gap or the m1?

If this is the intake you are referring to its an M1. There should be a few threads about them. If it's not post a link or pix of the one you are referring to.

Yeah, that's it. And I have another question.

Some places say the egr is from 92-96 and others say 92-97. My truck is a 97. Do you know what year they stopped the egr?

95 was the last year for EGR.

You can use an EGR manifold as well and block off the port, as many others have done.

some 96's used the EGR manifold from the factory with a block off plate on them,i guess they still had many left over to use until they changed the casting in mid 96.

$500 for a replacement intake? It would have to be a gaurateed boost in performance before I would even think about a mod like that?

Yes, but not much by itself. Like the Air Gap, on a totally stock engine you will lose some low end torque but you gain a good amount of top end, which the kegger severely lacks. When combined with some supporting parts, especially a tune, but also thing's like 1.7RRs, that low end torque will return. I've driven an identical truck to mine except a 98, bone stock, and mine has more ***** at every RPM.
