Replace the senser. Factory gauge is not very accurate. If it still reads the same get a mechanical gauge to verify, If it's still low, possibly oil pump is going bad or clogged.

i'd replace the pump with the melling high volume and not mess with the sensor.

if your rear main seal is leaking, you can replace it too.
these instructions are pretty good, except you don't have to jack up the engine and I did have to remove the damn starter to get the dust cover off in order to get the damn oil pan off.

If you go along the route of replacing the pump (depending upon how many miles your truck has) it would be a safe be to replace the sensor then too. a general rule of thumb is whenever you replace the main component; replace the sensor as well

this might seem like a stupid question, but is there the right amount of oil in the pan? My brother had this problem on his car, he drove it to my house for me to help him figure it out, and when I checked the oil, he was pretty low. added oil, and it "fixed" his problem.

Actually, that is a very relevant question..... considering that with a blown plenum, these trucks can go thru oil in short order......
